|Inglewood Park Cemetery held its first annual Día de los Muertos Festival in October, 2013. This was a much more elaborate celebration than the previous year, and many more people attended the event. We had booths for various merchants, food trucks, and entertainment.
Prayers were offered by Rev. Fr. Javier Altuna, S.J. of St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church in Inglewood, and Pastor James McKnight of the Congregational Church of Christian Fellowship in Los Angeles.
Remarks were given by the Hon. Mayor James T. Butts of Inglewood, and by the Presidents of Inglewood Park Cemetery, Daniel L. Villa, and of Inglewood Cemetery Mortuary, Todd Beckley.
Aztec dancers and Folklorico dancers performed in beautiful costumes, and built a traditional memorial altar, with each element explained in narration.
The Santa Monica High School Chamber Orchestra wrapped up the afternoon with their beautiful classical music.
